3ds max: exterior & interior renderings

the brief.

using the selected architecture design, the third project involves the production of photorealistic still renderings using 3DS Max with materials, appropriate camera views and post-production enhancement on the visual outcome.

Exterior

Aftering setting up 3DS Max and importing my model in, I chose a perspective view I liked then created a camera using CTRL C. The camera and target was then moved to human height.

Next, I created the sun & daylight lighting using Sun Positioner

I proceeded to finetune the position of the sun

I then selected the camera and altered the settings, including Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO Exposure Gain.

Since my model was located by a water body, I wanted to model it to mimic the site. So, I created a large plane and edited the segments

Then, I used the modify tab to create noise, and modify the parameters

Next, I created my own water material and set it to the plane.

I continued experimenting with adjusting the segments to create the desired water ripple effect

I did the same with the noise parameters until I was satisfied

Next, i actually decided to set the sun to follow the estimated position of the actual sun following the architecture design's site

Next, I started creating my own materials, some using bitmaps or using the physical material presets. I only added materials visible in view, that I wanted to render, as I figured it'd be counterproductive to add materials to elements I wasn't going to render.
